A two-day international scientific conference organized as part of the implementation of the STIM-REI project, which focuses on the significant cooperation between the University of Split and the Humboldt University in Berlin, i.e. the cooperation between the Cluster of Excellence “Matters of Activity” (MoA) and the Scientific Center of Excellence STIM, began on July 10 at the Mediterranean Institute for Life Sciences (MedILS).
Conference participants were greeted by professor Vlasta Bonačić-Koutecky, head of the STIM-REI project and the STIM Center of Excellence, while the rector of the University of Split, professor Dragan Ljutić, expressed his satisfaction that the cooperation between our University and Humboldt University will be formalized.
We try your vision and idea of what a university is and what it should be followed in Split, especially when it comes to interdisciplinarity and cooperation within different scientific fields. We are also lucky to live in Split, a city with a rich historical and cultural heritage where different cultures and people have always been intertwined – said Rector Ljutić, wishing everyone a successful conference and a pleasant stay in Split.
Academician Miroslav Radman, founder and acting director of MedILS greeted the participants.
As a co-founder of the institute, I welcome you. When we launched MedILS with great ambition, we were guided by the idea that in the time of rapid technological development, we would find a place and time for reflection summed up in the phrase “what before how” instead of the other way around – pointed out Radman.
At the conference, through a series of joint lectures and discussions, guests and collaborators from Humboldt present their research work and opportunities for joint cooperation, and scientists from STIM present the successful results of scientific research work on the STIM-REI project and the STIM Center, especially young researchers, through lectures and posters.
On the second day of the conference at the Faculty of Science of the University of Split, in addition to interesting lectures and a poster section, a cooperation agreement between the University of Split and the Humboldt University of Berlin is signed.
We bring a part of the atmosphere and the program of the conference along with the Poster List.
