At the session of the Committee for the distribution of state awards for science held on November 9 2020, the Decision on the awarding of state awards for science for 2019 was made.
The annual award for scientific novices in the field of technical sciences was awarded to STIM member Željko Penga, PhD, from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, University of Split.
Penga is awarded for significant scientific research contribution in the field of technical sciences, especially for the original results achieved in the field of mathematical and experimental analysis of hydrogen membrane fuel cells and renewable energy sources. In 2019, Penga has published four scientific papers in reputable world journals with a very high response factor, which were partly created as part of his work on the STIM-REI project within IC activities. He was also the mentor of the student team in 2019, which won 1st place in the competition of 42 universities at the international competition ESTECEO Academy Microgrid Design Competition. He has established and maintains cooperation with several scientists and institutions outside Croatia: the University of Ljubljana, the Technical University of Graz, the University of Oxford and the University of Jiangsu. He has participated in a number of national and international projects with significant research and scientific contributions.
